Ultrasound in Fez: pregnancy & gynecology
Dr Jihad Abbou performs obstetric and gynecological ultrasound at his practice in Fez, including 2D assessment and 3D/4D imaging when appropriate. The examination and results can be explained in English.

A medical examination with a clear purpose
Pregnancy ultrasound uses sound waves to assess the baby and pregnancy. Depending on the stage and reason for the scan, it may help assess dating, development, growth, the placenta or amniotic fluid. A scan cannot identify every health condition.
Gynecological ultrasound examines the uterus and ovaries. Dr Abbou may propose it for pelvic symptoms, unusual bleeding, fertility assessment or follow-up of a known condition.
Understanding 2D, 3D and 4D
2D ultrasound provides the cross-sectional images used for the medical assessment. 3D reconstructs a volume, while 4D displays moving 3D images. These modes can complement the examination; they do not replace the diagnostic assessment.
Image quality depends on the clinical circumstances, including the baby’s position. A clear view of the face cannot be guaranteed. The appointment is organized around the medical purpose of the scan.
Preparing for the appointment
Bring earlier scans and the referral or question that prompted the examination. Ask the practice whether bladder preparation is needed for your particular scan. The abdominal or vaginal approach is selected according to the indication and discussed with you before the examination.
If you are pregnant, tell the doctor your estimated due date and whether you prefer not to know the baby’s sex. Leave time to discuss the findings and any recommended follow-up.
Your questions, answered
Is 3D/4D ultrasound available in Fez?
Yes. Dr Abbou’s practice offers 3D/4D imaging alongside obstetric ultrasound when appropriate and when image conditions permit.
Can I book an ultrasound if I am not pregnant?
Yes. Gynecological ultrasound is also used to assess the uterus and ovaries. Tell the practice why the scan is requested when booking.
Will a normal scan rule out every problem?
No. Ultrasound has limitations. Discuss any persistent symptoms or concerns with the doctor even if a previous scan was reassuring.
